📩 11 Cold Email Mistakes

Why 90% of Cold Emails Are Trash

You're wasting serious time and money on useless spray-and-pray tactics.

But it's not your prospect's fault they ignore you. You're making embarrassing blunders that repel them instantly.

Let's fix these mistakes.

create, grow, monetize

1. Not defining your ideal customer profile (ICP). Successful cold emails start by getting hyper-specific about your ideal buyer. Their pain points, goals, job titles - everything. Randomly emailing people is a colossal waste of time.

2. Not segmenting your prospect list. Not all prospects are equal. You need to divide them into groups. You should base the groups on industry, company size, and buyer persona. Then, customize your messaging for the greatest relevance.

3. Using your primary domain. Sending cold emails from your main domain? One spam complaint and your business email's entire reputation goes down the drain.  Use a secondary domain for cold outreach and keep your primary domain pristine.

4. Not cleaning your email list. The contact data you are using contains many invalid and outdated email addresses. People switch jobs and companies often. But, that turnover isn't in lead lists. Sending to invalid addresses increases your bounce rate and damages your email reputation. You need to scrub and verify your email lists.

5. Writing essay-length emails. Your cold emails should be lightning-fast reads that get the point across in under 150 words. Any longer, and you'll lose their attention.

6. Not including an unsubscribe link. This is a must-have for Gmail and other major email providers. Give prospects a clear way to opt out—it's good etiquette.

7. Having multiple CTAs. Confusing CTAs lead nowhere. Have one clear call to action, making it easy for prospects to know what to do next.

8. Not A/B testing. Guesswork isn't a strategy. Test different elements of your emails to discover what engages your audience.

9. Ignoring email authentication. Don't let spam filters stop you. Set up SPF, DKIM, and DMARC to ensure your emails reach the inbox.

10. Sending too any emails from one account. Don't risk your email health. Spread the load across multiple accounts to keep your campaigns running smoothly.

11. Skipping a professional email signature. Your signature demonstrates your professionalism after the main message. Keep it simple yet effective with a courteous close.  Avoid adding social media links, as they can trigger spam filters.
